Light is a form of energy, visible with the naked eye, that can be transmitted from one point to another at a finite speed. Visible light is a small proportion of the radiation spectrum which ranges from cosmic rays to radio waves. Two complementary theories have been proposed regarding the behaviour and propagation of light in spotlight light luminary.

In order for us to see an object it is necessary for a source (the sun, a lamp, a fluorescent lighting reflector) to direct its rays onto led lamp, which it then directs, suitably modified, onto the eyes. Such signals are then elaborated by the brain, which subsequently makes a decision, readjusting the image with a retroactive process (feedback). It may, for example, close the pupil if the light is excessive.

The term "light source" usually refers to a device able to emit energy radiations of a wavelength within the visible region (380-780 nm) of the electromagnetic spectrum. Attached to this expression we often find another adjective, essentially referring to the essence of the emission: we often hear talk of "natural" led lamps - or rather those present in nature, mainly the sun - or "artificial" sources, those - from candles to spotlight light luminaries - which exist due to the actions of man.

A wide range of artificial sources like fluorescent lighting reflector, led lamps, spotlights are available which are the basic instruments of the science of lighting. The importance and significance of their selection has become one of the pivotal issues surrounding lighting design.

Making use of an artistic analogy, we can say that a light source is to a lighting design project what colours are to a painting: varying in type, nature, technique, design, virtuosity, and assembly a led lamp , but their linguistic content remains intact.
