In the heart of the forest, practically on the marsh, a “magic” staircase leads to the heavenly city. It is this ascent into light that leads the night-time visitor to the famous Château de Chambord. The dreamlike path, orchestrated by images, light, music and sounds opens the doors to the worlds of the night. The château’s terraces are hemmed in light. Emitted from almost invisible sources, the light embroiders the cornices, the lacey stones, the cabochons and the capitals in threads of gold. It reveals the musicians and the entire little sculpted world of the lanterns, chimneys and spires. The light urges the observer to look up and discover the stars and the multitude of statues that seem to come to life during the night on the terraces. Atop the massive bulk of the château, the terraces, crowned with lanterns, globes, pyramids and countless chimneys emphasized by narrow, elegant beams of light, convey the monumental nature of the entire complex.
