In the heart of Tokyo Metropolitain, the guesthouse of a cosmetic company Noevir is a real oasis for the visitors thanks to its refreshing greenery in the garden and at entrance. The company’s policy is to respect natural components to “make all women in the world even more beautiful”. The garden lighting to welcome guests was a key issue to add more value to the site.
Lighting design at entrance porch was to emphasize representative trees around by lighting them up from inside so to give them a glow from interior of branches and leaves, just like a lantern emitting light. As consequence, the leaves cast shadow on pure white external wall of the house, to create a beautiful silhouette play of the nature.
In the garden, 3500K light sources were selected to provide most suitable lighting to the greens. The entire plantation softly wrapped by diffused light offers a panoramic vision to dining room, where the client now prefers to dine with no in-room lighting, except candles on the table to enjoy the view.
A special lighting was proposed for maple tree, the main element at centre of the garden. When it turns the leaves into burning red, “Momiji Light” [maple light] is switched on to emphasize its worm colour and the contrast between red and greens in surroundings.
Lighting design was studied one year after the completion of the architecture designed by Plantec, thus, cabling and some electrical installation were more complicated. Thanks to specially custom-made spike system, the installation work could be completed in less than a week. Equally custom-made louvers covered by glass panel on the top control efficiently
glare to the neighbours in this dense residential area.
